DECATUR, IL– After decades as a general and vascular surgeon known for precision and complex problem-solving, Steve Weber never expected that a frustrating experience with technology in his own home would actually launch his next career.
While building a home in Colorado, Weber hired a technology integrator to design and install the property’s automation systems. After years of delays, programming issues, and incomplete work, the experience exposed what Weber saw as a deeper problem across the industry, a lack of reliable systems, consistent processes, and client-focused service.
Rather than accept the status quo, Weber decided to build something different.
“By nature, I’m a builder and a fixer,” Weber said. “In surgery, you see a problem, you take ownership of it, and you fix it. When I experienced the breakdown in this industry, I
saw the same opportunity. It was no longer about a single patient, it was about improving an entire system.”
In 2014, he founded Liaison Home Automation, which has since rebranded into a larger endeavor, Liaison Technology Group, bringing the same mindset that defined his surgical
career. Diagnose the problem, design the solution, and execute with precision.
Today, Liaison Technology Group has grown into a rapidly expanding technology integration platform with nine locations across the United States and more than 70 team members nationwide. Built on four distinct, specialized divisions that support its continued national growth, the company designs and supports advanced residential and commercial technology, including lighting design, motorized shading, audio, and video distribution, networking, security, and energy management systems.
“We are not providers of just a TV or just a speaker,” Weber said. “Our job is to bring technology together into an
